OLT Offshore LNG Toscana achieves four important certifications

Certification issued by Bureau Veritas, about Quality, Environment, Social Responsibility, Safety and Healt of workers

As a result of the process started in 2011, OLT Offshore LNG Toscana has obtained certification of its activities in the area of Quality (ISO9001), Environment (ISO 14001), Occupational safety and health of workers (OHSAS18001) and Social Accountability (SA 8000). The Bureau Veritas is one of the most important Certification Bodies worldwide.

Peter Carolan, Olt’s CEO, declares: “Besides the authorization process the company meant to make its activities management totally traceable and transparent. We are absolutely satisfied with the results: certifications issued by Bureau Veritas, one of the most respected Certification Bodies recognized worldwide, confirm our commitment to responsible management of our activities by maintaining the highest standards available today in terms of environmental protection, plant safety, and guarantee of the rights of workers”.

Obtaining these certifications testifies the strong and concrete commitment that OLT has implemented to manage its business responsibly, paying attention to possible instances of the various stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.

This commitment does not end with the achievement of these certificates but, in the spirit of continuous improvement already in those standards, the company will be required to maintain it over time.

A better quality management

The ISO 9001 is an international standard for Quality management, which applies to all organizations operating in any sector of activity. It is based on the principles of quality management which are essential for a good corporate management. The ISO 9001 provides a framework for undertaking a systematic approach to managing business processes to satisfy customer needs.

ISO 14001

An efficient Environmental Management System

ISO 14001 is part of a series of international standards which relate to the Environmental Management System, applying to all types of Organizations. The ISO 14001 is set on the principles of a management system that includes the planning, execution, control and improvement actions.

The application of ISO 14001 defines the most important requirements to identify, control and monitor the environmental aspects of any organization that has a policy respecting the environment.


Safety and health of workers

The OHSAS 18001 focuses on managing health and safety at work and requires organizations a continuous improvement, thus providing all stakeholders the guarantee of compliance with security policies specified. OHSAS 18001 can be adopted by any organization operating in all types of industries and activities and aims to systematise control, knowledge and awareness of all possible risks related to situations of normal and extraordinary activity.


The defense of human rights and workers’

The last and not least certification obtained by OLT concerns the Social Responsibility of the management system, according to the standard SA8000. The SA8000, touches the sphere of social responsibility with regard to the conditions of workers (human rights, development, promotion, training and professional development of people, health and safety of workers, discrimination, child labor) and its requirements extend to the entire chain of suppliers and subcontractors.

The company also provided tools for prevention and reduction of risks related to the commission of criminal offenses and submitted to the verification of the certification body the documents of its organizational model, drawn up pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/2008 and according to the indications of the guidelines of Confindustria, in order to ensure consistency with the text of the law and the federal document.
